A new musical featuring the songs of Elvis Presley plays the Palace.
The Broadway production of All Shook Up closed September 35, 2005. For current Broadway show listings and tickets, please click here.
New in 2005, this is the latest in a string of mega-musicals based on the song catalogs of popular acts from the past - the songs of the King are hitched to a very serviceable story based on the plot of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, set in a small town deep in the Heartland.
Big production numbers are the order of the day - the young and enthusiastic cast gives that unmistakable Broadway spin to the classic songs, and the gilt and velvet of the Palace is always half the show.
A partial songlist: 'Heartbreak Hotel,' 'Burning Love,' 'Love Me Tender,' 'Can't Help Falling in Love,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' 'Blue Suede Shoes,' 'A Little Less Conversation,' 'Hound Dog,' 'Don't Be Cruel,' and of course, 'All Shook Up.'.
Family Rundown: Certainly a friendly-family evening, but some mature themes (as in Twelfth Night), when the tomboy mechanic dresses as a man in order to spend time with the beloved hero. In the end, Jack finds his Jill, but there are a few bumps in the road that might puzzle the younger ones.
All ages admitted - everyone must have a ticket.
