Running since October 2012 The well-loved musical based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip is back on Broadway - now starring Emmy-winner Jane Lynch as Miss Hannigan. Nominated for one Tony Award - Best Revival of a Musical.
Jane Lynch (Coach Sue Sylvester on TV's "Glee") will play Miss Hannigan through July 14th. Lilla Crawford, a member of the closing cast of Broadway's "Billy Elliot," plays Annie, and Australian Anthony Warlow, a veteran of several previous "Annie" productions, plays Daddy Warbucks.
The original (1977) production of "Annie" won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Composer Charles Strouse and lyricist by Martin Charnin's score is packed with well-known tunes, including "Hard Knock Life," "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile," and "Tomorrow."
This revival has been directed by James Lapine, a seven-time Tony Award nominee as a director who won a Tony and a Pulitzer in 1984 for his collaboration with Stephen Sondheim on "Sunday in the Park with George." Mr. Lapine and choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler are featured in this video:
