The eminent and extraordinary Barbara Cook returns to Broadway with her one-woman show.
Closing Date at the Vivian Beaumont: April 18, 2004.
When you have one of the most comfortable and technically-advanced of the Broadway theaters, why waste it on the “dark nights”? While Christopher Plummer’s King Lear takes a breather, Lincoln Center fills the hall with the dulcet tones of one of the greatest Broadway singers of recent generations, Barbara Cook. Accompanied by her longtime musical director Wally Harper, she sings some of the American songbook’s greatest numbers, resting from time to time in the rubato of reminiscence.
It’s a quiet, delicately constructed, and warmly personal evening with one of the musical theater’s greatest living talents – a good buy for both the frequent theatergoer and the music aficionado.
Note: The show will move downstairs to the more intimate Mitzi Newhouse Theater during the month of June - tickets are not yet onsale for that engagement.
