According to press notes, "with a colorful crew of characters, an exciting fresh sound and explosive dance with aerial stunts," the show "tells the story of the challenges and unexpected bonds formed through the thrill of extreme competition."
"Bring It On" features a libretto by Tony-winner Jeff Whitty ("Avenue Q"), songs by Tony-winners Lin-Manuel Miranda ("In the Heights") and Tom Kitt ("Next to Normal"), and direction and choreography by Tony-winner Andy Blankenbuehler ("In the Heights").
Reviewing a Los Angeles production last year, Charles Isherwood of the NY Times called the show "an intriguing collaboration among artists with serious Broadway cred," and said that while it "has as much sap as it does pep in its DNA," it "had me regularly gasping at the human pyrotechnics."
