A small, scrappy and soulful new rock musical plays the Plymouth - A young girl seaches for the father she never knew.
Closing Date at the Plymouth: June 26, 2005
If the roof of this theatre is still standing at the end of the run, count it a small miracle – these young and passionate performers are pouring forth enough vocal pyrotechnics to stir the heart of even the most inert theatergoers. Call it a cross between Rent and "American Idol", seasoned with Brecht to taste. The lights come up on a run-down street scene (one guess as to which borough), and a small cast of “street performers” tells the tale of a young girl seeking fame and the father she never knew.
This is rough and immediate theatre - a very good buy for the MTV crowd and kids old enough not to be confused or overly beguiled by a some very suggestive songs and the occasional cuss-word. If you have musical-theatre purists or professional theatre critics in the group, steer clear, but for young audiences looking for an approachable and intense evening on the Main Stem, you could do a lot worse.
May be inappropriate for 7 and under. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre
