NYC critics were unanimous in their praise of the stars, with Mr. Craig (who is making his Broadway debut) receiving particularly glowing reviews.
The play, on the other hand, was less warmly received. The Daily News called it "a stark and modest work that's all talk and no action." Newsday was a bit more enthusiastic, describing the show as a series of "monologues about moral ambiguity" by two cops "in a violent downward spiral of shakedowns, bigotry and enormous self-delusion," and calling the writing "not profound or wildly original, but commanding."
First produced as a workshop by New York Stage and Film in 2006, the play had its professional world premiere in 2007 at a small Chicago venue. It was remounted in February 2008 at Chicago's Royal George Theatre, and won Jefferson Awards (Chicago's version of the Tonys) for Best New Work and Best Production.
According to the venue, the curtain rises promptly....latecomers will be seated at the discretion of management."
