Arthur Miller's heartfelt drama of recollection and atonement, presented for a limited run by the Roundabout Theatre.
Closing Date at the American Airlines Theater: September 12, 2004
Television recognizables Peter Krause ("Six Feet Under") and Jessica Hecht (Ross' ex-wife's wife on "Friends") headline the cast of this revival of Miller's deeply personal remembrance of things past. This provocative revival sets the action, most of which occurs inside the mind of the protagonist, at the International Arrivals Gate at Idlewild Airport.
Miller, one of the greatest living playwrights (who was once married to Marilyn Monroe) looks honestly and unstintingly at many of the most difficult moments in his life - though the play is not explicitly autobiographical - and moves through some very tricky emotional terrain. This generally capable production offers some great insights into the play (and features a few small rewrites), and is a good buy for folks looking for a thoughtful but approachable evening on Broadway.
The Roundabout is moving a lot of subscribers into a very limited number of performances here, so availability is a lot tighter than you might think. Book as early as you can.
Brief nudity, and some mature themes.
