From Manhattan Theatre Club, three new one-acts from legendary comedienne Elaine May.
Closing Date at the Biltmore: July 3, 2005
Originally known for her comedy routines, May has become an established screenwriter over the last few decades. Here, she spins a trio of new light comedies into an evening's entertainment. One features a hapless yet twinkle-toed fellow attempting to strike up a conversation with an uninterested woman at a dance hall, another is about three self-pitying singles and an older woman, and after the intermission, two couples attempt to "swing".
Some critics kvetched that the three sketches didn't quite fill the evening, but if you're looking for a beguiling trifle - expertly produced - this may do the trick.
May be inappropriate for 13 and under. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre
