In "Brighton Beach Memoirs," Neil Simon introduces us to the world of young Eugene Morris Jerome, who in turn, introduces the world to the entire Jerome family. Inside their modest Brooklyn house in 1937, we discover everything we ever needed to know about childhood, parenthood, and the golden palace of the Himalayas.
"Brighton Beach Memoirs" is the first play in Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical 'Euguene Trilogy.' In the second play, "Biloxi Blues," Eugene suffers though basic training in the Deep South. In the last play of the trilogy, "Broadway Bound" (which is being performed in rotating rep with "Brighton Beach Memoirs"), Eugene and his brother Stanley form a comedy-writing team.
