New in 2010 Tony-winner Linda Lavin and Golden Globe-nominee Sarah Paulson star in Pulitzer-winner Donald Margulies' play about the relationship between two female writers. Nominated for 1 Tony Award - Best Actress in a Play (Ms. Lavin).
The Broadway production of Collected Stories closed June 13, 2010. For current Broadway show listings and tickets, please click here.
The play, written and first produced in 1996, chronicles the relationship between two female writers: Ruth Steiner (Lavin), a celebrated New York author with a dry wit and a distinguished career; and her bright-eyed young protégé, Lisa Morrison (Paulson). As their relationship evolves and the line between fact and fiction starts to blur, their story comes to a complex, emotionally-charged conclusion.
Broadway critics were generally supportive of this production, with most finding it engaging and funny, though somewhat predictable (particularly the slow-developing first act). Ms. Lavin (who will probably always to be best known for playing the title character in the long-running sitcom "Alice") was widely praised. The AP critic called her "a joy to watch" and Variety said "anyone who takes acting seriously would walk a Broadway mile to see Linda Lavin."
Closes June 13th.
