The winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama - a thoughtful new play about trusting faith in a changing world.
The Broadway production of Doubt closed July 2, 2006. For current Broadway show listings and tickets, please click here.
Plot: Eileen Atkins stars as a nun in a Catholic school in the Bronx, circa 1964. She suspects that an enthusiastic young priest at the school is becoming too familiar with one of his students, and the ensuing confrontation ignites an inferno of doubts and uncertainty.
Last season's most praised spoken drama, this new 90-minute play at the Walter Kerr is from John Patrick Shanley and Manhattan Theatre Club. Remarkable for considering big questions while working on a small scale (minimal set, four actors), the playwright has famously joked that he only wrote half the play - the second act is in the conversation afterward.
(There are many excellent bars nearby on 8th Avenue, if your group is so inclined.)
Mature themes.
The $25 Balcony seats are only available at the box office. (Bring binocs & hire a Sherpa - the balcony is set very high in the Kerr.)
Cast News: Cherry Jones and Brian O'Byrne left the show 1/10.
May be inappropriate for 12 and under.
