An adaptation of the 1998 film about suspicion, guilt, and the dark shadows cast by a long life - Larry Bryggman and Juliana Margulies star.
Closing Performance at the Music Box: May 20, 2006
Adapted from the starkly realistic film of the Dogma school, this is certainly one of the odder efforts on the street at the moment. A beloved patriarch sits down to dinner with his family, but things go seriously awry when his eldest son makes some strong accusations about past abuse.
(Apparently what happens when you don't eat in front of the TV like normal people...)
The plot is risque, and the staging is adventurous - for example, more than one scene is sometimes going on at the same time - it's all very conceptual.
So if beguiling strangeness entices (and really, shouldn't it?), go.
But Beauty and the Beast it ain't.
Mature audiences.
May be inappropriate for 15 and under. (Strong language; adult situations; sexual situations.) Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
