Mauritius the Broadway Play - Mauritius Tickets - click for tickets
New in 2007
MTC presents a limited run of a brusque and forceful new thriller about philately and the heart. (Mor-ISH-uss)

Closing Performance at MTC: November 25, 2007

Manhattan Theatre Club is one of three not-for-profit theatres with a constant presence on the Great White Way. Each season, they produce a regularly scheduled slate of shows in their home theatre, making for a bit of continuity in the often frentic, catch-as-catch-can atmosphere of the New York theatre. One of the benefits of this stability and name recognition is that they have no trouble signing top-rank actors, even when the play is relatively unknown (as here).

F. Murray Abraham (an Academy Award winner for Amadeus), Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 3, Happiness), Bobby Cannavale (Hurlyburly, The Station Agent, “Will & Grace”), Katie Finneran (a Tony winner for Noises Off) and Alison Pill (Blackbird at MTC, a Tony nominee for The Lieutenant of Inishmore) assay this drama of two half-sisters who, upon the death of their mother, find themselves in possession of an album of rare stamps.

Expect a more sober and sedate crowd than you might usually find on the Main Stem, due to the large number of tri-state subscribers to the theatre. This is a good pick for frequent theatregoers and those looking for a quieter, less flashy evening. The reviews were decent (see below), though some found the acting more credible than the plot twists.

The kids would probably be baffled & completely uninterested. Call the sitter. The language is definitely PG-13, too.

In certain sections of the audience, the 11/17/2007 2PM performance will be open-captioned for the hearing-impaired. Details.

Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
