New in 2010 Abigail Breslin (Oscar-nominee for "Little Miss Sunshine") will play Helen Keller and Alison Pill (Tony-nominee for "The Lieutenant of Inishmore") will play Annie Sullivan in the first Broadway revival of William Gibson's classic play.
Set in the South in the 1880s, "The Miracle Worker" tells the story of real-life Medal of Freedom winner who suddenly lost her sight and hearing at the age of 19 months, and the extraordinary teacher who taught her to communicate with the world. Abigail Breslin and Alison Pill play Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, iconic roles made famous by Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke in the Tony Award-winning play and landmark feature film adaptation.
The cast also includes Elizabeth Franz (winner of the Best Featured Actress Tony in 1999 for her stunning performance opposite Brian Dennehy in "Death of A Salesman"), Matthew Modine and Jennifer Morrison (both of whom are making their Broadway debuts).
Here's a behind-the-scenes video (shot on the first day of rehearsal) with brief interviews with the actors and director:
