New in 2006 Julianne Moore stars in a new drama from David Hare about an overseas war reporter turned academic.
Closing Performance at the Music Box Theatre: March 11, 2007
David Hare is known as one of the smarter scribes on the Main Stem, and here he trains his dramaturgic sights on the conflict in Iraq. Considerably less didactic than his recent Off Broadway treatment of the subject (Stuff Happens), this drama traces the conflict between a retired war reporter turned Political Science professor and her boyfriend's father, an old doctor living in rural Wales. She speaks for the war, he speaks against it, but the human drama underneath has the last word.
Best for those seeking a more serious evening of theatre, this complex piece opened to mixed reviews, but has been the genesis of many an interesting conversation around town.
Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre. Latecomers will not be seated during the first fifteen minutes of the show.
