Here's a plot summary from the production's press office:
Fonda stars as a woman racing against time to solve the mystery of a composer's 200-year-old obsession. As she faces her daughter, her past and Beethoven himself, Katherine must struggle to embrace the legacy of her own life.
The NYC critics have spoken, and while Ms. Fonda's performance was generally admired, the play fared less well. The Daily News may have summed it up best, saying "what begins as an exciting journey of discovery sinks into a conventional Lifetime mom-and-daughter reconciliation."
That said, Jane Fonda's return to Broadway (she's be absent since the early '60s, when she appeared in four plays in four consecutive seasons) is an event, and audiences are turning out in large numbers and with real enthusiasm.
