To fully appreciate "Equivocation," take Cole Porter's advice: brush up your Shakespeare. But also steep yourself in turbulent, early 17th-century English history. Both are needed to maximize your enjoyment at Bill Cain's ambitious if overstuffed drama. Cain's dialogue is erudite and often witty - But then the action is never quite clear in director Garry Hynes' murky production.
