American Ballet Theatre - Clear/The Moor's Pavane/The Tempest

Lincoln Center - David H. Koch Theatre

Fri, Nov 8 @ 7:30 PM
Choreography by Stanton Welch
Music by Johann Sebastian Bach
Set to Bach’s transcendent music, Stanton Welch’s ballet is a showpiece for ABT’s acclaimed roster of male dancers, exploding in stunningly fleet footwork and audacious contrapuntal movements of jumps and leaps. Michael Kors’ sleek costumes allow the dancers’ technique and sheer physicality to shine.

Choreography by José Limón
Music by Henry Purcell
Limón’s masterwork beautifully distills in one act the passion and dramatic arc of Shakespeare’s Othello. Performed to a stately Renaissance court dance, this psychological thriller reaches its heartbreaking climax as the noble Othello succumbs to Iago’s treachery.

THE TEMPEST- World Premiere
Choreography by Alexei Ratmansky
Music by Jean Sibelius
Dramaturgy by Mark Lamos
As a tempest rages inside Prospero, the wrongfully banished Duke of Milan, he conjures a violent storm to bring his foes to the enchanted island he has shared with his daughter and the spirit Ariel for the past twelve years. Imbued with magic and the supernatural, Shakespeare’s late great masterpiece is a meditation on romance, revenge and redemption.

The parking lot at Lincoln Center is worth the cost, and very convenient to the venue. You can reserve parking in advance when you purchase tickets, or separately at the Lincoln Center site. (link)
