NY City Ballet - Here/Now Festival No. 7

Lincoln Center - David H. Koch Theatre

Sat, May 13 @ 8:00 PM

Three decades converge: from Martins’ 1991 non-stop and technically impressive Ash to the adventurous fraternity of Peck’s 2014 ‘Rode,o: Four Dance Episodes, this program also sees the return of Bigonzetti’s 2008 Oltremare, evoking the anticipation of journey toward new life.

Program:

Ash

Music by: Michael Torke
Choreography by: Peter Martins
Principal Casting:

With an accelerated tempo, Ash launches a non-stop cast of ten into stylish solos, pas de deux, and group movements.

Funérailles

Music by: Franz Liszt
Choreography by: Liam Scarlett

A dark and seductive pas de deux, Funérailles’ tempestuous drama is furthered by Liszt’s intense piano score and theatrical costumes by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen: a sweeping, corseted gown for the woman and an elaborate gold-embroidered jacket for her partner.

Common Ground

Music by: Ellis Ludwig-Leone
Choreography by: Troy Schumacher
Principal Casting:

Set to a bright and colorfully textured commissioned score from Ellis Ludwig-Leone, Common Ground is a vivid work full of cheerful camaraderie and fluid, often witty and seemingly impromptu movements.

Oltremare

Music by: Bruno Moretti
Choreography by: Mauro Bigonzetti

Brooding and intensely physical, Oltremare depicts the journey toward a new life with both its struggles and adrenaline-rising anticipation.

Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes

Music by: Aaron Copland
Choreography by: Justin Peck

A plotless take on Aaron Copland’s well known Americana score, Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes pairs a lone woman with a cast of 15 jocular, energetic, and charming male dancers for a fresh and thrilling adventure that audiences adore.
