The family-friendly holiday spectacle from Cirque du Soleil returns to the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
The production of Cirque du Soleil: Wintuk closed January 3, 2010. For current show listings and tickets, please click here.
From the producers:
Wintuk is an exciting winter adventure about a boy's quest for snow. This celebration of winter weaves thrilling acrobatics, breathtaking theatrical effects and memorable songs into an extraordinairy journey to an imaginary land called Wintuk. The boy and his companions - a mysterious female shaman, a fearless young girl and a yellow-bellied man - deliver endless excitement, exhilaration and intrigue. The show is playful, musical, and bursts with the energy of the city and the magic of a wonderland. This seasonal story, which features a cast of 50 performers from Cirque du Soleil, will have the whole family wishing for snow.
Helpful hints:
The Theater at MSG is cavernous, so those ticketholders in the back sections may feel like they're at a Knicks game. (They may actually be closer to the Knicks game in the room next door than to the stage.) If you buy closer to the stage, you'll have an experience that is more similar to seeing Cirque in their tent or in one of their Las Vegas venues.
Wintuk premiered in 2007, and returned in 2008 with new some new acts. The show seems to be unchanged in 2009, so if you've seen it before, you might also consider the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
