From the production's press office:

Set in Manhattan, Impressionism is the story of an international photojournalist and a New York gallery owner whose unexpected brush with intimacy leads them to realize that there is quite an art to repairing broken lives. Written by Michael Jacobs and directed by three-time Tony Award-winner Jack O’Brien, this remarkable portrait of human nature marks Mr. Irons first Broadway appearance since his 1984 Tony-winning turn in The Real Thing, and Ms. Allen’s first since her Tony-nominated performance in The Heidi Chronicles in 1989.

Joan Allen may be the hardest-working actress in America. Her film work has earned her 3 Academy Award nominations, including one in 1996 for her portrayal of Pat Nixon in Oliver Stone's "Nixon" (opposite Anthony Hopkins). In recent years, she has played the steely Pamela Landy in two of the highly-succesful Bourne movies. On Broadway, she won a Best Actress Tony in 1988 for her appearance in Lanford Wilson's "Burn This" (opposite John Malkovich).

Jeremy Irons came to fame nearly 30 years ago in the highly-acclaimed British TV series "Brideshead Revisited." He won an Academy Award in 1991 for "Reversal of Fortune," and, more recently, won an Emmy Award in 2005 for his work in the mini-series "Elizabeth I."
