Denzel Washington returns to Broadway in Shakespeare's classic drama of political ambition.
Closing Date at the Belasco: June 12, 2005
Daniel Sullivan, Broadway's unofficial resident director of spoken plays, directs screen idol Denzel Washington in a thoroughly competent and workmanlike production of the classic text. Don't expect togas - suits and modern weaponry abound.
Usually, when the Bard comes to midtown (or the Park), the productions are very accessible and unthreatening, designed for folks who haven't encountered the plays since their school-days.
But the language remains.
If you think that's a good thing, great. But if you think that it's a bad thing, you'll still enjoy this show.
Mature audiences (Brief nudity, violence, iambic pentameter).
May be inappropriate for 9 and under. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.
