When "Dreamgirls" first opened on Broadway in 1981, it racked up the awards and garnered the acclaim that made it the classic favorite we know and love today. With its powerful score and thought-provoking story, "Dreamgirls" has touched audiences from 1980s Broadway to 21st century Hollywood. "Dreamgirls" returns to the stage in this brand-new production that promises to provide the show-stopping numbers and touching performances audiences have come to expect.
The production will be directed and choreographed by Robert Longbottom (director/choreographer of the new Broadway production of "Bye Bye Birdie"), and the cast will include Syesha Mercado, Adrienne Warren, and newcomer Moya Angela in the role of Effie, played by Jennifer Holliday in the original production and Jennifer Hudson in the 2006 film adaptation.
