The US premiere of a new play by Pulitzer-winner Sam Shepard.
The Off-Broadway production of Ages of the Moon closed March 21, 2010. For current Off-Broadway show listings and tickets, please click here.
Written for and starring leading Irish actors Sean McGinley and Stephen Rea, Atlantic presents the Abbey Theatre production of "Ages of the Moon" – a gruff, poignant and funny new play by Sam Shepard.
Byron and Ames are old friends, re-united by mutual desperation. Over bourbon on ice, they sit, reflect and bicker until fifty years of love, friendship and rivalry are put to the test at the barrel of a gun.
Writer and actor Sam Shepard has been an Off-Broadway mainstay for nearly 5 decades. His plays include "Buried Child," "True West," and "Fool for Love." As an actor, Shepard is best remembered for his Oscar-nominated portrayal of pilot Chuck Yeager in "The Right Stuff."
What's the Atlantic Theater Company? At its venue on the western edge of Chelsea, this long-running Off-Broadway group stages plays in the intimate, realistic style developed by its founders, David Mamet and William H. Macy. Several highly-regarded Broadway productions started out here (including Spring Awakening). Earthy yet cosmopolitan. More here.
