From the theatre:
Against a backdrop of 1980's privilege and power, a disturbing scandal at an all-boys prep school forces a mother to confront the truth about her son and herself in Good Boys and True, a riveting new play by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Based on a Totally True Story, The Mystery Plays, HBO’s “Big Love”), directed by Tony Award-nominee Scott Ellis (Curtains, The Little Dog Laughed, Twelve Angry Men). As the scandal unexpectedly twists and turns, mother and son find themselves contending with unforeseen and long-concealed secrets that threaten to destroy both school and family.
What's Second Stage?: Second Stage is a long-running, recently redesigned Off-Broadway theatre in the heart of the theatre distict midtown. The fare is sometimes a bit racy, but often very approachable. Call it quirkiness with an edge. It sees itself as a 'Second Stage' for plays that don't find an audience on the larger stages, but it's hardly anti-Broadway, and several of its shows have recently made the jump to larger houses across the street.
