At midtown's New World Stages, a comedy about what happens in the theatre when audience participation gets out of hand.

From the producer:
It's opening night. The cast is unruly, the crowd is restless, and the play is obscure, but Joel has a larger worry: his mother is in the front row. Real and theatrical worlds collide in this new comedy about the night a classic play spoke so loudly to its audience that they felt compelled to talk back.
Describing the process of writing the play in a recent interview, the authors said "The idea for 'Love Child' was born some sixteen years ago when we were first working together on a delightful play at the Young Playwright’s festival Off-Broadway. There were a pair of...um...enthusiastic audience members who inspired us. We got off stage and vowed that one day we would write a play for them since they seemed so keen on being part of the action."
What's New World Stages? New World Stages is a converted complex of movie theatres in midtown, about a block west of the Broadway theatre district. Very well-apportioned, with excellent intermission bars and very comfortable seats, it is a rental house, meaning that outside producers pay the theatre a certain amount to bring their shows in, resulting in wildly varying fare, but the high rental costs keep the sketchiest of the riff-raff at bay.
