Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane's wicked new comedy is a scathing look at who is in, who is out and who may not even exist at all. Mr. Lithgow is well known to American audiences from his substantial TV ("3rd Rock from the Sun"), film, and stage work (including "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in 2005 and "All My Sons" in 2008). Ms. Ehle may be less known but she is a powerhouse, having won Tony Awards in 2000 for "The Real Thing" and in 2007 for the epic 3-part event "The Coast of Utopia." What's Second Stage? Second Stage is a long-running producing organization with a recently redesigned Off-Broadway theater in the heart of the midtown theater distict, and a smaller space (the company's original home) on the Upper Westside. The fare is sometimes a bit racy, but often very approachable...call it quirkiness with an edge. The company sees itself as a 'Second Stage' for plays that don't find an audience on the larger stages, but it's hardly anti-Broadway, and several of its shows have recently made the jump to larger houses across the street.
