From the theatre:
Signature caps off its season with a Legacy Production as part of its Premiere Series, which presents new works by former Playwrights-in-Residence. EDWARD ALBEE'S OCCUPANT is a portrait of acclaimed sculptor Louise Nevelson – a quest to capture a charismatic and complex artist and persona. What is the relationship between creator and creation? Who was Louise Nevelson? Only she knew.
What's the Signature? This is an outstanding Off-Broadway theatre with a few peculiar things about it. First, the programming. Each season, it selects a playwright, and examines that playwright's work through a series of productions. Second, a very generous corporate sponsorship has meant that the preponderance of the tickets are sold at $15, some $50 cheaper than their 'market value'. This also means that runs tend to sell out before the beginning of performances, so buy early. Occasionally, if the critics rave about a show, the theatre will extend it for a week or more, and those tickets are generally easier to score, given that they're priced at 'market value'. More here.
