At MTC's smaller theatre, a new drama about an American pilot who crashes his plane near a small village in a war-torn country.
Closing performance at MTC: December 31, 2006
Plot - An American fighter pilot crash-lands in a strange and slightly hostile country which is tired of the war (no, not Vermont). The villagers must decide if they will help him.
In addition to its Broadway home, MTC boasts two Off-Broadway spaces buried deep inside City Center. While tamer fare usually inhabits the bigger halls (with some exceptions), the smallest room is where this theatre tries its riskiest stuff. Here, a relatively unknown play makes the jump over the pond from the RSC's home base (new cast, tho.)
Though they do Ayckbourn very well, MTC has recently taken a lot of critical flack for importing turkeys wholesale from London (given how much homegrown dreck there is to choose from); it might be interesting to see if this smaller effort can reverse the small tide of Anglo-flops.
