A fascinating retelling of one of the most dramatic events of English History, the sanctioning of the execution of Mary Stuart by Queen Elizabeth I. The acting and staging are superb. The decision to make all the male characters bland conscienceless "suits" in contrast to the excellent period costumes of the two queens is brilliant. The women are fully realized characters while the men are mere functionaries, the same as in any age. I looked at the original Schiller play in German and was amazed at how very close the current version is to the original. It was a mesmerizing and completely satisfying theatrical experience.
