NY City Ballet - Here/Now Festival No. 3: Peck

Lincoln Center - David H. Koch Theatre

Wed, May 3 @ 7:30 PM

In a rapid rise since his first NYCB work, Resident Choreographer Justin Peck is on track to premiere his fourteenth ballet for the Company by the end of the 2016-17 Season. We amass a selection of his repertory for our first all-Peck program, starting with his original 2012 creation, In Creases.

In Creases

Music by: Philip Glass
Choreography by: Justin Peck

Like a puzzle of shifting shapes and formations, Peck's first ballet for NYCB showcases his keen eye for manipulating bodies to form complex geometric structures and unique patterns.

New Peck 1 (World Premiere)

Music by: Bohuslav Martinů
Choreography by: Justin Peck
Principal Casting: SEPT 20: Sara Mearns*, Amar Ramasar* (*First time in role)

Critics and audiences respond to Justin Peck’s affinity for maneuvering multiple bodies on the stage, but in his fall premiere, he creates his first NYCB main stage ballet for just two dancers.

New Blood

Music by: Steve Reich
Choreography by: Justin Peck

Set to one of the few Reich pieces in NYCB’s repertory, New Blood is a series of bold and brisk pas de deux—each exit marked by the entrance of a new dancer, altering the choreographic motif for the couple—and features mod Humberto Leon unitards with cutouts where the dancers make physical contact.

Everywhere We Go

Music by: Sufjan Stevens
Choreography by: Justin Peck

The epic Everywhere We Go features 25 dancers in a nine-part exploration of Sufjan Stevens' cinematic score, the indie-pop icon's first original orchestral work, with each section accented by a multi-layered and shifting geometric backdrop.
