From the producers: Reeling from her ex-husband’s engagement to a much younger woman, Jodi Isaac turns to her famous fashion-designer dad for support. Instead, she finds him wrapped up in his West Village townhouse with Trey. Who’s 20. And not necessarily gay. But probably an adult film star. At least, according to Jodi’s son. Who’s also 20. And definitely gay. Skintight assays the nature of love, the power of attraction, and the ways in which a superficial culture persists in teaching its children that all that matters is what’s on the inside.
Author Joshua Harmon's plays include include "Bad "Jews" and "Significant Other," both produced off-Broadway by Roundabout Theatre Company. His play "Admissions" was produced by Lincoln Center Theater earlier this year. "Skintight" received the Edgerton Foundation New Play Award for 2017.
Casting Notes: Idina Menzel will not appear 7/22.
Tony Award winner Idina Menzel ("Wicked," "If/Then") leads a cast that includes Will Brittain, Stephen Carrasco, Eli Gelb, Cynthia Mace and Jack Wetherall. Daniel Aukin ("Fool for Love") directs.
What's the Roundabout? One of the great nonprofit dreadnoughts of the New York theater scene, the Roundabout has three Broadway venues and an Off-Broadway stage in midtown. Prominent artists are usually engaged, significant work is usually done, and even at the smallest of the theaters, the work has the uniform quality that one would expect from such a large and prominent shop.
